Napa Valley Day Trip Dinner at Tra Vigne or Mustards
As you begin your trip back to San Francisco, you will take a different route than you took in the morning, heading south on Highway 29. You will leave Calistoga the same way that you came in, but at the flashing red light, at the very end of town, you will need to turn left on to Highway 29, heading south toward St. Helena.
You will be amazed by the number of wineries that you see on your drive, especially on the section between St. Helena and Napa. If you would like to see stop at some more, we can suggest several, including Charles Krug Winery, Whitehall Lane Winery, and Markham Vineyards.
You might also consider stopping for dinner on your way back to San Francisco. This would give you an excellent opportunity to relax, and break up your journey. The choices are numerous, but a perfect stop is Mustard’s Restaurant, on the left, just as you are approaching Yountville.
If you are having trouble getting a table at Tra Vigne, or prefer to drive a bit further before dinner, consider stopping at Mustards—which is about a 15 minute drive on highway 29 past Tra Vigne, on the right hand side of the road. Mustards serves absolutely delicious California cuisine in a charming roadhouse setting. The service is superb, and you will feel welcome from the moment you enter.
If you would prefer something much more causal, quicker, and less expensive, try one of the great burgers featured at Gott’s Roadside, which is almost directly across the street from Tra Vigne. Don’t be surprised if you see a long line of people waiting on line to order, as this dining option is extremely popular. Seating is outside on picnic benches.
